The Formation House

St. John Bosco was born in Italy on 16th August 1815. His father, Francis, died when John was only two years old. He had an ambition of becoming a priest and at the age of 9 he started dreaming of serving the young.
Due to the financial difficulties of his mother, he could not continue with his studies as he had desired. He later joined a seminary college and in 1841 he became a priest. In the same year he started his ministry for the young boys who flocked to the industrial town of Turin. Don Bosco (Fr. Bosco in English), provided them with shelter, education and formation. He was their father, friend, and brother. He wanted to help the young to be honest citizens and good Christians.
In 1859 he started the congregation of The Salesians. Shortly afterwards the congregation started spreading to various parts of the world.
The Salesians came to East Africa in 1980 with the same mission of serving the poor youth. Hundreds of youth have up to now benefited from various centers ran by the Salesians of Don Bosco in East Africa ie. Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and the Sudan.
You can become part of this great mission of serving the needy youth by joining the Salesians of Don Bosco!
Young people who have an ambition of becoming religious and are interested in joining the Salesians of Don Bosco to serve the young are given an opportunity to seek the will of God.
